Secretary Dirk Kempthorne, Other Dignitaries Break Ground For Storage/Reservoir Project in Southern California to Conserve Colorado River Water - Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne broke ground today for construction of the Drop 2 Storage Reservoir Project in California, which will conserve water and augment the water supply to the benefit of all seven Colorado River Basin states. "The Drop 2 Reservoir Storage Project is a triumph for common-sense water management policy,” Secretary Kempthorne told the project’s partners, including Susan Bitter Smith, President of the Board of Directors of the Central Arizona Project. “You have shown once again that, working together, the states and the Department of the Interior can be leaders in the conservation and sustainable management of water."
On September 14, Paul and Susan Bitter Smith hosted the BBC Election08 bus, to discuss the upcoming national election, at their home in Scottsdale.
